Haul Video #1

Hello everyone! I've been watching a few "haul" videos over on youtube lately (don't do it if you don't want to add 100+ things to your wishlist!) and thought I'd try my hand at my own. I want to start adding more video segments to my blog, ie. tutorials and whatnot. I only have a digi camera and was fairly certain it didn't pick up sound, so just video-d this one with the intention of then adding voice I was going to record on my phone. BUT, then I started editing this one and it turns out it has picked up some noise and all you'll hear in the background is shuffling and static so big tip - TURN YOUR VOLUME OFF!

I just added captions for this one as didn't want to re-record the video and couldn't work out how to get rid of the camera noise and add voice. I'll work on it and might borrow the DSLR from boyfriend and try videoing on that.

I hope you enjoy my little haul video... let me know what you think and let me know what else you would like to see in video form... when I figure it all out that is!

Oh, and if anyone knows of any good, free, video editing software, please let me know. I just used Windows Live Movie Maker for this one as it's on my laptop!

Sunshine Blogger Award

My gorgeous, bestest scrap friend, Nicky picked me for a Sunshine Blogger Award. What a great little way to spread some love around your blogging friends! I think you should all head on over to Nicky's blog to see her awesome work and leave her some love!

Now I believe there are some rules surrounding this award, so I best list them so here so I can't ignore them! ;)

1. Include the award logo (above) in your post.
2. Answer 10 questions about yourself (self chosen).
3. Nominate 5-10 other bloggers, link them within your post, and comment on their blog to let them know about the award.
4. Link the person who gave you the award in your post.

10 Questions

1. When did you start scrapbooking, and why?
In around October of 2006, I was procrastinating from uni and stumbled across the Kaisercraft outlet in Adelaide. I had heard of scrapbooking, and have always enjoyed making bits and pieces so started hoarding supplies and papers etc. At first, I just thought it would be something fun to do, keep me out of mischief etc (and enable my terrible habit of procrastination). Now, I do it to capture memories and share stories. I've been making cards mainy lately just because I don't have as much time as I would like to play in my scraproom, and I love seeing the joy on people's faces when they recieve a handmade card and/or gift.

2. Where do you scrap?
My older brother moved out of home just over a year ago now, and I was lucky enough to convince my parents that I needed a section of his room for my scrapbooking stuff. This room was used as a formal dining area by the previous owners so is quite a good size. I just have one wall of the room but that is enough for me. You can see the latest update on my space here.

3. What do you get up to when you're not scrapping?
I work as a registered nurse at a hospital close to home; and I've also started studying midwifery this year. Right now, I'm day 12 of 18 straight as I am juggling placement and work at the same time. Looking forward to my singular day off on Monday! In between work, study, family time, and spending time with my amazing boyfriend, I sleep! As I said before, not much time for scrapping at the moment unfortunately.

4. What is the last movie you watched?
Umm, I have no idea. Haven't watched one in a while I don't think. Sam and I watched something the other week... just trying to remember what it was called... A few best men. A silly movie, but good for laughs :)

5. What is your five year plan?
Finish my midwifery studies. Engaged. Married. Buy a house (or two). Have a good job (preferrably as a midwife, not a nurse!). That's about it :)

6. Where are you right now?
In bed. It's 11:41am right now. I got up at 9am and went to the physio. Came home about half an hour ago and crawled back into bed to warm up. Will be getting up once this post is finished to get ready for work.

7. What's your favourite snack food?
I'm always hunting for chocolate and lollies LOL. Right now though, I've been enjoying grain waves ("healthy" chips)... the green packet, whatever flavour they are.

8. Are you in a relationship? Kids? Pets?
I have been with my amazing boyfriend for around 3.5 years. We're not rushing to do the engaged/married thing as we're both still studying. And we're both happy as we are for now. But definitely, marriage and kids are on the to-do list ;) No pets for me. I live at home with my parents and there are fish and birds and a rabbit around the place, but none "mine".

9. Who is your favourite author?
Jodi Picoult, hands down :) If only she could write books faster... one a year is never enough.

10. What is playing on your iPod right now?
I couldn't even tell you where my iPod is right now! I haven't use it in a while and it's probably flat. I've been happy with the radio in the car lately.

Now onto the people I want to give this award to (in no particular order)...

Award Winners

1. Britta

2. Emily

4. Holly

5. Kerry

6. Tiff

That's it from me today! Hope you've enjoyed learning a little bit about me! Don't forget to check out the blogs of my award winners and leave them some love!

PS. This is my 300th post!

Use It Tuesday - All About Dad

This week at Use It Tuesday it is all about Dads! This photo of my Dad and I is from my 21st back in November 2009.

The story behind the title: Little Ray of Sunshine

The song "little ray of sunshine" was playing in the car when Mum and Dad left the hospital for the first time after my birth to bring me home. Dad has always said it is "our song".

Materials used: Kaiser Candy Lane collection: papers, paper pad, journal tags; kaiser flowers: sweet pea, hot pink, kaiser mini alphas: cream; kaiser tiny alphas: cream; kaiser rhinestones: silver; thickers.

The papers (Kaisercraft's Candy Lane collection" was released in late 2010, so has definitely been in my stash for a while! And as for those paper flowers... I have such a huge collection and it NEVER seems to get any smaller! The photo itself, as mentioned earlier, is also a bit of a hoarded one... November 2009! It's older than the paper! LOL!

And a close up on the title/journalling:

Thanks for looking! I hope you have a chance to play along with Use It Tuesday this week. And don't forget about the DT call (read about it here on the UIT blog).

A Little Ray of Sunshine Lyrics:

Her father says she has to have a name,
not the same as her mum's, but a name just the same,
a little ray of sunshine has come into the world,
a little ray of sunshine in the shape of a girl.

We'll show her the dress that she'll wear
with the gold flowing hair that nature provided
my little ray of sunshine has come into the world,
my little ray of sunshine in the shape of a girl.

A little ray of sunhine -
I want to know if you think she looks good in the pink,
Grandma has bought her ...
our own little daughter.

She can make you feel good,
she can make you feel that it's all worthwhile,
only by her smile, only by her smile ...

Have you noticed she's just like her father,
and I think that I'd rather
her hair was much darker,
my little ray of sunshine has come into the world,
my little ray of sunshine in the shape of a girl.

She can make you feel good,
she can make you feel that it's all worthwhile,
only by her smile, only by her smile, only by her smile...

talkin' 'bout my little ray of sunshine,
my little ray of sunshine,
little ray of sunshine,
little ray, little ray, little ray,
sweet little darlin',

my little ray of sunshine, woa woa woa ... hmmmm ....
